8 Questions with………….UK actress Cheryl B. Bullock

Looking outside at an overcast SE Michigan day. The cheetah is downstairs pacing and meowing/growling while looking outside his door. I’m listening to my  movie scores while I am finally putting this “8 Questions with…..” to bed. Listening to the The Flash’s opening theme is more than a little ironic as its taken me a long time to finish this.
But have patience because it will be well worth the read….
Dreams. We almost always have them growing up,right? Then life comes and we watch our once bright dreams fade into memories and what ifs. Very few of us ever come back to the childhood dreams we once had.
But British actress Cheryl B. Bullock is one of the few extraordinary few who indeed never forgotten her desire to perform and at age 26,decided to go chase her goal of becoming an actress. In talking with Cheryl and hearing about her past,I told her she was very refreshing and unique to talk to,I really respect the way she has overcome her obstacles to become a actress.
So,without further ado……8 Questions with……….Cheryl B. Bullock.

Which did you want to do first? Become an actress or dancer?

 Actress because I really love movies especially action movies and a little romance too.I can act out any genre as people can see on my acting showreel for Hello AU Revoir. But I’m much better as a dramatic performer such as Linda Hamilton in Terminator.

But when you really decide to pursue acting as a profession? Who did you talk to about really making a go of this and the best way of making it happen?

I’m friends with a lot of actors on Facebook including 2 who have been in Mission Impossible franchise, Daniel Eghan and Sean Cronin who pointed me in the right direction. Told me not to give up on working hard and reaching to where I want to go as a actress and keep on getting myself out there and known. So that is what I am doing right now.

 What inspires you to dance? If anyone was watching you perform, what would they takeaway your dancing?

There are a few inspirations that makes me want to dance. My mother’s mother used to go Ballroom dancing and my mum comes to see me dance too, one of my favourite movies “Dirty Dancing” also Strictly Come Dancing inspires me, other professional dancers, and my friends i have made at The Regency.

 

How old were you when you joined the Regency Theatre and did you have to go through any kind of process to join?

I only joined the Regency dance centre in  October 2016 and I only had to step in to the place to sign up. I only wanted to do zumba but ballroom has taken a place at the front.

 There are many forms of dancing, ballroom, freestyle, ballet….which dance is closest to your heart and why?

I love the Paso Doble most because of my Spanish looks and heritage (hence my dark features),  and I love the style of the dance and the music.  Zumba and Fit steps lessons help with being in the “Dancing Shape” and also keeps me in shape with Ballroom dancing too.

 Walk us through your first time performing for an audience, what was going through your mind? How do you handle the emotion during a passionate dance, like a Paso Doble?

I performed in a community pantomime called “Aladdin” back in 2015 as a portrait ghost with my face through a hole, and looking straight at the audience was a breeze as I knew I was making them laugh. The Paso Doble dance is a strong, passionate, and intense dance. With emotion and anger goes through my mind of my past experiences with my ex boyfriends.

 What is something that keeps you strong when things get difficult?

The thing that keeps me strong is my friends and my close family are always there for me whenever things get tough.

 What is your one weakness in your dancing that you want to correct and how does one go about doing that? How do you keep focused during a performance?

One of my dance weakness is the Foxtrot. I get confused as to where to put my feet and when to turn. I will be correcting that by following my dance tutor more . I keep focused by remembering what my tutor’s have told me what to do in the dance’s.

What do you like to do when you are not performing?

I like singing in my spare time, practising my dancing, and also catching up with my loved ones and my close friends. Maybe doing a bit of retail therapy.

How do you get news about auditions? And how do you handle not getting a part you want?

Well I’m also on StarNow and I am with Total Talent so I look on there myself for online auditions. I also have good friends who are actors and directors who help me like they have on my IMDB. And I have not had the chance to experience not getting a part I want yet, which is good.

 What do you do to get ready for an audition? Are people friendly at auditions or do you sense other artists resenting the competition?

 The thing i do to get ready for an audition is to relax my mind by doing a little Tai Chi, and listening to calming music.
Well I haven’t really experienced any “proper” auditions, like I say it’s mostly online video auditioning for me at the moment. And because I live out of any big cities including London, Birmingham, and Sheffield, I haven’t got the money or time to travel.  I have to get to Nottingham first then catch the train to London which is 2 and half hour away.  So online is good for me. And I feel that there is always competition within the acting work. But I have to concentrate on doing the best acting I can do myself.

 

 Tell us about “Zombie Attack”. How did it come about?

I started watching “Sean Of The Dead” one of my favourite movies of all time. Then I thought, I can think of a GREAT script,based on zombies. So I have written my own original script called “Zombies Attack”.
 The concept is ready but I’m looking for the right cast and crew and also a director. I heard Michael Biehn is a director. If Michael reads this, give me a call please!! 

 Paid parts are hard to come by at times, how do you continue to hone your craft?

I hone my craft by keeping on doing what i am doing in my Dancing and Acting, keeping making mini movies, even if it is on my own little smart phone.

 

Do you see yourself as a dramatic or comedic performer?

 What is your spirit animal?

I would like to think my spiritual animal is a unicorn. Because they are the most beautiful creatures in the world.
