Have Cheetah,Will View – “Pacific Rim: Uprising” (2018) trailer

It’s 5:01 pm

If anyone knows me,they know I loved the Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy) created and directed “Pacific Rim”. The story of huge Jaegers piloted by two humans that fought huge kaiju (monsters) was an pretty epic adventure.
This film seemed poised to be a huge hit here in the States but it wasn’t. A sequel that was already being announced suddenly was in jeopardy because of a underwhelming box office.
But as been the case recently, the American box office isn’t nearly as important as before and “Pacific Rim” became a international hit and once again the sequel was on…
But because of the huge delays in firming up dates/location and budget…many of the key players that made the first Pacific Rim a hit are gone because of “scheduling”.
Del Toro isn’t directing,Charlie Hunnam,Ron Perlman,Max Martini and Clifton Collins,Jr are also not back.  Rinko Kikuchi returns but I have a feeling its more of a cameo role.
So my excitement for the second “Pacific Rim” is rather muted and despite a sleek “Starship Troopers” style of trailer which features new Jaegers,I can’t help getting a feeling this “Uprising” isn’t going to do that well…..I hope I’m wrong of course because there I would kill to see Gypsy Avenger was Raleigh and Mako in a “King Kong vs. Godzilla” film that will be coming shortly/.

Below is the first teaser for”Pacific Rim: Uprising”

  1. Why is it so often that the sequels just can’t live up to first part? Or also why can’t the movie keep up with the books that they where made from? There is only very very few that can really but the scene and feel that you create in your head while reading actually on the screen. And it is always even worse with a sequel…

    • Well I know in Pacific Rim’s case….they weren’t sure if a sequel was even going to get made,it didn’t do well HERE in the States….but once it hit the international market,it did very well…and then the studio was unsure if they wanted to do a 2nd movie. In that time frame, everyone had moved on with different projects. The studio finally said yes to sequel on a much lower budget with most of key actors not returning. Speaking for myself,I’m skipping this one….no Raleigh,no Mako,no point.
