I Sing – Mercedy Purcell – “Gone”

Its 7:17 pm
humid

I recently conducted my second interview with singer-actress Mercedy Purcell here on the blog. In the interview, she mentioned how she prepping her first single for wide release. She had written a song about the passing of a very close friend and she wanted to share with people on what the loss meant to her.
Well Mercedy has not only completed and release her single (which is getting a nice buzz in the UK) she also shot a music video as well. I am sharing it here as a way to support my friend because we all have experienced someone leaving us much too soon.

Gone

Verse 1

A storm was brewing,
Inside of me,
I couldn’t believe,
What I could see,
Keep telling myself,
It’s all just lie’s,
I shred my tear’s and
I wont say goodbye,
The day’s of sunshine,
Flashing through my mind,
A smile most beautiful and kind,
No matter what happened,
I was alway’s there,
I can’t accept it,
That you’re gone now.

Chorus

I miss you my friend,
I need to see you again,
Need to ride through the pain,
One day this rain will end,
keep seeing your face,
Pulling through the ground,

But your gone,
But your gone,
But your gone,
But your gone..

Chorus

I miss you my friend,
I need to see you again,
Need to ride through the pain,
One day this rain will end,
keep seeing your face,
Pulling through the ground,

But your gone,
But your gone,
But your gone,
But your gone..

Verse 2

We didn’t alway’s see,
Eye to eye,
Had our up’s and down’s,
We laughted and cried,
You brought hope,
In all that was cold,
You alway’s cheered me up,
With your heart of gold and
Word’s unspoken and song’s unsung,
The dream’s where shattered,
Before they begun,
No matter what happened,
I was alway’s there,
I can’t accept it,
That you’re gone now,

Chorus

I miss you my friend,
I need to see you again,
Need to ride through the pain,
One day this rain will end,
keep seeing your face,
Pulling through the ground,

But your gone,
But your gone,
But your gone,
But your gone..

Verse 3

So here you are,
Beneath the dirt,
I cried so hard,
It start’s to hurt,
A cold wind blow’s,
Cut’s like a knife,
I’d give anything,
To bring you back to life,

Chorus

I miss you my friend,
I need to see you again,
Need to ride through the pain,
One day this rain will end,
keep seeing your face,
Pulling through the ground,

But your gone,
But your gone,
But your gone,
But your gone..

Chorus

I miss you my friend,
I need to see you again,
Need to ride through the pain,
One day this rain will end,
keep seeing your face,
Pulling through the ground,

But your gone,
But your gone,
But your gone,
But your gone..

    • I thought it was a lovely tribute. Most indie artists would never really think about dropping such a personal song because labels would shy away from it….the fact that it never entered Mercedy’s mind speaks so highly of her character.
